田浦山盛福寺前の水道トンネルを出て右側の階段を登ると、駐車場に出る。さらに階段を登ったところに杉林に囲まれひっそりと観音像を祀ったお堂が建っている。昔、このあたりには、守り神として馬頭観音が祀られていたが、戦前、軍がトンネルを作るとき埋めてしまったそうだ。戦後になって田浦在住の婦人がある夜、観音様が夢まくらに立ち、埋められたところがわかった。その人が成田山の住職に相談し、田浦観音と名づけた像を彫ってもらった。昭和36年にお堂が完成し、稚児行列をくりだして観音様を奉納した。古老によると、昔は下の現在駐車場になっているところ（当時は広場）に舞台が造られ、いろいろな催し物が行われ、出店もたくさん出て、大変なにぎわいであったという。
お堂内の観音様は木像で、奉賛会の人たちが維持している。
そして、その観音様がある直下の大山田隧道、田浦隧道の二連トンネルでは地元民の情報によると女性の霊が出没するとされている。
この因果関係が気になるところです。

The temple was completed in 1958, and a procession of children was created to dedicate Kannon. According to the old man, the stage was built in the place that is now a parking lot (at that time, a plaza), various events were held, and many stores were opened, so it was very busy.
Kannon in the hall is a wooden statue, which is maintained by the people of the supporters.
According to locals’ information, female spirits appear in the double tunnels of Oyamada Kudo and Taura Kudo, which are directly under the Kannon.
I am concerned about this causal relationship.
